The Court of Arbitration for Sport has made a ruling regarding the controversy over the women’s floor exercise final at the Olympics. American gymnast Jordan Chiles had her final score dropped to 13.666, jeopardizing the bronze medal she thought she had won. The court rejected a late inquiry submitted by Chiles’ coach, stating it was submitted four seconds past the one-minute mark. The ruling came in response to an appeal made by the Romanian Gymnastics Federation and two gymnasts. The International Gymnastics Federation is responsible for determining how medals should be reassigned. USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee expressed their disappointment with the ruling and condemned the attacks made against Chiles on social media.
